With Five Mentions “Barbie” Frontrunner in Oscars 2024 Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences declared the shortlists in ten categories for the imminent 96th Oscars. With five mentions, Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” became the favourite in the race of Oscar shortlists.

“Barbie” was short-listed for sound, original song, and original score, with a trio of submissions from acclaimed artists Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and the dynamic duo of Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.

Directed by Greta Gerwig the film co-penned with Noah Baumbach, “Barbie” is a fantasy comedy starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

Since its release on November 19, 2023, “Barbie” has proven to be a colossal box office triumph, the film has amassed a phenomenal global total of $1.442 billion.
