Suicidal thoughts come due to these reasons, learn how to control them

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year on 10 September in collaboration with WHO to prevent suicides around the world. The International Association for Suicide Prevention organizes events in more than 60 countries. Suicide is a serious problem in the country. According to the data, during the year 2021, more than 1.64 lakh people lost their lives due to suicide. On average, about 450 people died every day or 18 people died every hour. These figures are not a good sign for the betterment of any society.

It is believed that only those people who have more stress move towards suicide. Or those who desire to just live have ended for some reason. A person is surrounded by many situations at once. He faces many problems. Some overcome it, while many get trapped in it and end themselves.

To an extent, it is true that people commit suicide due to stress, but it would not be right to blame stress solely. People who suffer from a chronic illness also commit suicide, according to the Mayo Clinic; a non-profit American educational medical center focused on health care, education and research, or using alcohol and drugs.

Reasons for suicide:

  • If someone has tried to commit suicide before, then this can also be a reason. Or he may be feeling alone.
  • People commit suicide due to the grief of someone’s departure, breakup, or due to financial and legal problems.
  • Consumption of alcohol and drugs also causes suicidal thoughts in people.
  • Suicide attempt or suicidal ideation is a type of mental disorder. People with post-traumatic stress disorder or bipolar disorder tend to commit suicide.
  • Someone has been physically or sexually abused. Substance abuse or a family history of suicide or violence.
  • Any such chronic disease, chronic pain which is not treated, people suffering from it also go towards suicide.
  • Gay, bisexual or transgender people also have suicidal thoughts when they do not have family support or encounter hostile environments.

What to do when suicidal thoughts come?

Make a promise to yourself

You have to promise yourself that even if you are in a lot of pain, you will stop wrong thoughts and wrong actions. Promise yourself that I will wait for 24 hours and during that time I will not do anything wrong to myself.

Avoid drugs, alcohol

Life is a very precious thing. Your health is more than that. Suicidal thoughts can become even stronger if you use drugs and alcohol. Do not use over-the-counter drugs or alcohol when you are feeling hopeless or thinking about suicide.

Ignore what people say

No one can understand your personality more than you. You are well aware of your good and bad but it has been seen that often people around us judge or try to humiliate us in some way or the other. So you have to stay away from such people.

Exercise, listen to good music

Exercising both physically and mentally is very beneficial. It brings positive energy to your body and removes all the bad thoughts that come to your mind. Also listen to good music. With music therapy, the bad thoughts inside you will end and positive waves will go on in the body and mind.
