9 Including 4 Children Die in a Blast in Russia

A sudden explosion in a five-storey building claimed nine lives in Russia’s south-eastern Sakhalin island on Saturday. Four of the deceased were children.

According to TASS news agency of Russia, the blast occurred in a brick building constructed in 1980 in Tymovskoye village. It is suspected that leakage of gas was the reason behind this explosion.

The emergencies ministry of Russia said the initial investigation hinted at a gas leak. Many storeys of this building have collapsed due to the blast. According to the emergencies ministry, 60 rescuers had been deployed to rescue the survivors from the building.
