Earthquake Of Magnitude 6.2 Hits Japan

Japan: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Japan’s northernmost main island of Hokkaido yesterday, June 11. Japan’s Meteorological Agency said, no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake was 140 kilometres deep and struck the southwestern part of Hokkaido. It shook much of the island, including the cities of Chitose and Atsumacho, the agency added.

There were no immediate reports of casualties due to the earthquake, police and other local authorities said. Japan is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone nations.
