Gas Explosion In Barbecue Restaurant In Northwest China Claims 31 Lives

Beijing: As many as 31 people were killed, while seven received burn injuries in an explosion caused due to leakage from a liquefied petroleum gas tank at a restaurant in Northwest China, State news agency Xinhua reported.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at approximately 8:40 pm, on a bustling street, while people were gathered in preparation for the festival. The area has a significant Muslim population.

The main reason for the explosion prima facie seems to be leakage from a liquefied petroleum gas tank at the restaurant, as reported by Xinhua on Thursday.
