India is buying the blood of Ukrainians: Dmytro Kuleba

New Delhi: While Russia’s attack on Ukraine continues, the decision of India to buy crude oil from Moscow is justified, Jayashankar said. Most Indians cannot afford to buy energy at high prices. Therefore, it is a moral duty to give the deal to the countrymen, said Jayashankar in a program organized in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.

There has been a sharp response from Ukraine. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that India is buying the blood of Ukrainian in the form of oil from Russia.

Addressing the Indian community, Jayashankar said, “We have been very honest about our interests.” India’s per capita income is around Rs 1.5 lakhs. Not every Indian can afford to buy oil, gas, etc at high prices. Therefore, it is a moral duty to provide oil, etc at a low cost for their convenience. Recently, oil and gas prices have skyrocketed. Many of India’s oil supply partners and countries are facing Europe. To reduce oil purchases from Russia, European countries are eyeing Middle Eastern Countries that can supply oil to India.

So now a situation has arisen where every country is trying to ensure the right deal for them. India is also working accordingly, Jayashankar said.  On this, Ukrainian counterpart Kuleba said, “We expect more support and cooperation from India.” Ukraine is a reliable ally of India. But New Delhi is supplying fuel to Russia’s war engine by purchasing oil from Russia, Kuleba said.
