Missing Indonesian Woman Found Dead Inside 16-Foot-Long Python

Jakarta: An Indonesian woman, reported missing, was discovered dead inside a python’s stomach in central Indonesia.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Farida, was found by her husband and villagers of Kalempang village in South Sulawesi province on Friday.

Farida had gone missing on Thursday night, prompting a search operation led by villagers. Her husband’s discovery of her belongings raised suspicions, leading to the spotting of a python with a distended belly in the vicinity.

“They made the difficult decision to cut open the python’s stomach,” said village chief Suardi Rosi. “Sadly, Farida’s body was found inside.”

The python measured around 5 meters (16 feet), a size large enough to swallow a human whole. Farida was reportedly found fully clothed within the snake’s digestive tract.

This incident, while uncommon, highlights the dangers posed by large pythons in Indonesia. Several fatalities have occurred in recent years, with similar cases reported in 2018 and 2022.
