Ousted Pak PM Imran Khan injured in gun attack

Islamabad: An unidentified assailant opened fire on a container-mounted truck carrying former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday.

Imran was leading his rally in the eastern Punjab province when he was fired at. He sustained bullet injuries on his leg. But he is safe, Geo TV reported.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, Khan was heading towards the capital city of Islamabad in a large convoy of trucks and cars. He was part of a campaign to force Shahbaz Sharif’s government to hold early elections.

“Imran Khan is injured, may Allah protect him, the whole nation should pray for the life of Imran Khan,” PTI’s Farrukh Habib said on Twitter.

Another PTI leader Azhar Mashwani has said that the accused has been arrested.

“Imran Khan Sahib is safe. According to the ground-team, the culprit is arrested. The incident happened near Allah hoo chowk Wazirabad,” Mashwani said on Twitter.
