Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif Slams Protesters, Calls Imran Khan’s Crimes “Unforgivable”

Islamabad: In the midst of Pakistan’s political turmoil, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation on Wednesday, denying allegations of “political vendetta” against his predecessor, Imran Khan, and claiming that his arrest was due to corruption charges.

In his first address since the unrest, Sharif acknowledged the tumultuous nature of Pakistan’s political history and added that “revengeful acts in politics never rendered good results for the nation”.

Sharif went on to slam Khan for the ongoing unrest in the country and raked up the alleged corrupt practices carried out by him during his tenure as Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also termed damaging public property an “act of terrorism” and “enmity” towards the country. He emphasized that peaceful protests were allowed in democracy but causing destruction and vandalism in the name of protest was unacceptable.

Pakistan has been witnessing widespread protests and violence since the arrest of Imran Khan on charges of corruption and misuse of authority during his time as Prime Minister. His supporters have been holding protests across the country, blocking roads, and causing damage to public property. The situation has led to a crackdown by the Pakistani government, with several arrests being made. The unrest has further added to the political turmoil in the country, which is already facing economic challenges.
