Pakistani Teenager Receives Life-Saving Heart Transplant in India

Chennai: A 19-year-old Pakistani girl, Ayesha Rashan, has been given a second chance at life thanks to a heart transplant surgery performed at MGM Healthcare in Chennai. Rashan had been battling a heart condition for over a decade and required a transplant after her initial heart pump treatment proved insufficient.

Rashan’s family travelled to Chennai in 2014 for the initial heart pump implantation. However, by 2023, the pump malfunctioned, and her condition worsened. Doctors at MGM Healthcare, led by Dr. KR Balakrishnan and Dr. Suresh Rao, determined a heart transplant was necessary. The family faced a significant hurdle – the hefty cost of the procedure (approximately Rs 35 lakh), but the Aishwaryam Trust stepped in to provide assistance.

After a wait of six months, a compatible heart became available from a donor in Delhi. The transplant surgery was a success, and Rashan is now recovering well.

Filled with gratitude, Rashan and her mother, Sanobar, expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Indian government, the doctors at MGM Healthcare, and the Aishwaryam Trust for their life-changing support.
