Andrew Tate’s House Arrest Lifted Amid Human Trafficking and Rape Charges

Bucharest: Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother had their house arrest lifted by a Romanian court as they await trial on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal group for sexual exploitation. The court replaced the house arrest with a 60-day period of judicial control, starting from August 4, 2023.

During this time, the Tate brothers and their two accomplices must stay within the Bucharest region and report to the police, with no contact allowed with the two Romanian women also accused in the case.

The accused were detained last year and placed under house arrest in March. They have been challenging the house arrest order since then. However, the trial date has not yet been set.

Prosecutors claim that the group set up a criminal organization to sexually exploit victims through physical violence and psychological coercion, making them engage in pornographic acts for dissemination on social media.

Andrew Tate, known for promoting divisive views on social media, had moved to Romania years ago after starting a webcam business in the UK. He gained notoriety after appearing on the “Big Brother” reality show in Britain, where he was removed for attacking a woman.

The spokesperson for the Tate brothers expressed gratitude to the Romanian judicial system for the ruling, hoping for further positive developments in the case.
