India’s Ras Malai Ranked 2nd in List Of World’s 10 Best Cheese Desserts

In the recently declared, popular food guide Taste Atlas’ list of the ’10 Best Cheese Desserts’ in the world, Ras malai from India is in the second position. The first position was bagged by Sernik from Poland.

Sernik from Poland is a cheesecake made with eggs, sugar and twarog, a type of curd cheese. As per Taste Atlas, one of the most popular varieties of Sernik has a sponge cake as its base and is covered with jelly and fruit on top.

In the second spot is the Ras malai, the popular Indian sweet. ‘Ras’ means juice and ‘malai’ means cream. This sweet and spongy dessert is prepared using soft fresh cheese and ‘rabdi’. It is popularly enjoyed during festivals such as Holi and Diwali.
