2 Terror Suspects Arrested In Delhi Ahead Of R-Day; Prominent Politicians Were On Hit-List

New Delhi: Two more suspected terrorists who were planning to carry out terror activities in Delhi and Punjab were arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The accused, Jagpreet alias Jagga and Gurpreet, both Gurdaspur, Punjab residents, were also allegedly plotting to assassinate a politician in Punjab, according to the police.

Both cousins Jagpreet and Gurpreet, who were both arrested on January 5, have been placed in 14-day judicial custody.

The Punjab Police detained Gurvinder Singh and his two accomplices, Sandeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh, in August 2022 for the murder of Shaurya Chakra recipient Balwinder Singh. The culprit was subsequently found to be in possession of an RDX-IED, a hand grenade valued at Rs 37 lakh, 634 grammes of heroin, and other weapons. August marked the time of the seizure.

Additionally, a manhunt was launched for Gurvinder’s accomplices, Gurpreet and Jagpreet R. Both were arrested in January as a result of a tip from Delhi Police’s Special Cell intelligence division.

The suspects admitted to the authorities after questioning that they had intended to carry out terrorist acts in Punjab on August 15, 2022, but were unsuccessful.

They informed the police that RDX and hand grenades were also being imported from Pakistan for use in terror activities.
