AIADMK Passes Resolution Against BJP’s Annamalai Over Alleged ‘Dig’ at Jayalalithaa

Chennai: The AIADMK has passed a resolution denouncing K Annamalai, the state’s BJP chief.  This move came after Annamalai allegedly made veiled criticisms about the late former chief J Jayalalithaa.

K Palaniswami, the Leader of Opposition and AIADMK chief, expressed strong condemnation towards Annamalai’s remarks, stating that they were made with ulterior motives and were completely unacceptable. The statements made by Annamalai have reportedly caused distress among AIADMK members.

Annamalai had made these remarks during an interview with a leading English daily, where he indirectly criticized Jayalalithaa and questioned any government involved in misusing public funds. He highlighted instances of corruption in Tamil Nadu and stated that the state ranked high in corruption, possibly referring to the period between 1991 and 1996 when Jayalalithaa was in power.

Additionally, TTV Dhinakaran, the leader of the AMMK party, launched a scathing attack on Annamalai, labelling him as an inexperienced politician. Dhinakaran released a three-page statement, expressing his discontent with Annamalai’s comments. He criticized Annamalai’s lack of political knowledge and experience, particularly in understanding the historical context surrounding Jayalalithaa.

These developments have sparked tensions between the AIADMK and the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
