In Pics | Bengaluru Beholds ‘Zero Shadow Day’, Surreal Photos and Videos Leave Web In Awe
Bengaluru: Bengaluru witnessed Zero Shadow Day at 12:17 PM today when the sun goes directly overhead and hence the reference pole casts no shadow. When vertical objects don’t throw any shadows on Zero Shadow Day, it seems to observers to be rather surreal—almost like a malfunction in the Matrix. This happens twice a year. Locals in Bengaluru who saw the occurrence uploaded a range of images and videos.
Any vertically positioned item that would become shadowless when the sun was directly overhead could serve as the reference pole. The unusual celestial phenomena mainly occurs in areas close to the equator that lie between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
Bengaluru will witness its next Zero Shadow Day on August 18.
