IPL 2023 | MI Opt To Bowl Against GT As Defending Champs Eye Top Spot

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 35th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, April 25, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Notably, GT won a low-scoring thriller against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last match, whilst MI fell to Punjab Kings (PBKS).

In their victory over LSG, GT skipper Hardik Pandya turned out to be the star, scoring a tenacious 66 off 50 balls. Wriddhiman Saha also made a significant 47 runs to the team total. Mohit Sharma and Noor Ahmad each took two wickets to hand GT a satisfying victory.

However, MI lost to PBKS in their most recent match despite Suryakumar Yadav’s quick-fire 57-run innings and Cameron Green’s all-round exploits.

MI currently stands eighth in the points table and will want to go up when they play Gujarat today. However, GT, who are now in fourth position, will attempt to secure the second spot, if not the top.

The newly built Narendra Modi Stadium has so far been a batting paradise that favours spinners more than quick bowlers. But if they bowl in the right areas, pacers can also get help from the surface. The Narendra Modi Stadium is predicted to host a high-scoring match, and the dew factor is also expected to play a crucial role in the game.
