BJP Takes Huge Lead In Gujarat, Close Battle In Himachal Pradesh

The current trends indicate that the BJP is gaining a massive lead in Gujarat as the counting for both states is underway, while a close race is being seen in Himachal. BJP is all set to do better than its tally in the last assembly.

As of 11:20 AM on counting day, the BJP was leading in 152 out of the 182 seats in Gujarat, while Congress was in lead in HP in 34 of the 68 seats. Whereas AAP is nowhere in sight with a lead in mere 8 seats in Gujarat and is yet to open its account in HP.

Himachal Pradesh had a single-phase election on November 12 whereas Gujarat held two-phase elections on December 1 and December 5.

Approximately 64.65% of eligible voters cast their votes in Gujarat in both stages. The voter participation in Himachal Pradesh, meanwhile, was above 74%.
