RBI, HDFC & ICICI Banks Get Bomb Threats Demanding Resignation of Nirmala Sitharaman & RBI Guv; Probe Launched

Mumbai: A disturbing email threatening coordinated bomb attacks at multiple financial institutions sent shockwaves through Mumbai on Monday. The email, demanding the resignation of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, triggered immediate security measures and a thorough investigation, ultimately revealing it to be a hoax.

The threatening message, reportedly sent under the pseudonym “Khilafat India,” targeted the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, claiming 11 simultaneous bomb attacks at strategic locations across the city at 1:30 PM on Tuesday.

Responding swiftly, Mumbai Police mobilized teams to visit each designated site, meticulously conducting security sweeps. Thankfully, the meticulous search yielded no explosives or suspicious activity, confirming the threats as false.

“We have thoroughly investigated all 11 locations mentioned in the email and found nothing suspicious,” a Mumbai Police spokesperson said while acknowledging the disruptive nature of the hoax. “A case has been registered at the MRA Marg Police Station, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify the sender and their motives.”
