Defence Min Rajnath Singh Seeks Cooperation From SCO Members In Fighting Terrorism

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has urged the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to cooperate in combating terrorism and hold those who support or finance such operations accountable.

Speaking to the defence ministers of SCO member nations in New Delhi today, Singh argued that supporting terrorist attacks or acts of terrorism is a crime against humanity and that peace and this threat cannot coexist. He also expressed concern over youth radicalization, calling it a significant security risk and a hindrance to the socioeconomic development of society. All of the SCO member nations signed a protocol at the conclusion of the discussions to express their shared desire for the area to be secure, peaceful, and prosperous.

He claimed that all of the member states had agreed in their remarks that all kinds of terrorism must be denounced and eradicated. The summit was attended by the defence ministers of China, Russia, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
