Former AAP Councillor Climbs Tower, Threatens Suicide After Party Denies Him Ticket

New Delhi: To protest the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decision of denying him a ticket to contest the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, former councillor Haseeb-ul-Hasan scaled a high-tension wire tower near the Shastri Park metro station in Delhi.

Hasan reportedly vowed to commit suicide and climbed the tower after learning that he would not be given a ticket to run in the upcoming MCD elections.

Videos of the incident went viral online.

For the Delhi MCD elections, the AAP has already issued its initial list of 134 candidates, including 70 women.

MCD elections are set for December 4, and the AAP on Saturday unveiled its second list of 117 candidates.
