Girlfriend Killer UP Youth Shot By Cops

Lucknow: A youth from Uttar Pradesh, who had killed his teenage girlfriend, was shot in the leg during a police encounter on Friday.

According to police, the accused youth, identified as Mohammed Sufian pushed his 17-year-old Nidhi Gupta to death pushing her from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the deceased girl’s family alleged that Sufian was mounting pressure on her to convert for marriage.

In a police complaint, Nidhi’s family claimed that Sufian had been harassing her for quite some time.

Recently, following an argument, Suffian killed Nidhi and was at large since the crime day.

On Friday, he was shot at by police during an encounter and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Police had formed a special team of nine and announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for information on Sufian.

Apart from the murder charge, Sufian has also been booked for ‘unlawful religious conversion’.
