I’ve Good Memories From India, People Treated Me Very Well: Spanish Tourist, Who Was Gang-Raped, Before Leaving For Nepal

Dumka: A 28-year-old Spanish woman, allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka district last week, highlighted the kindness of most Indians despite her horrific experience.

“People of India are nice. I don’t blame the people, but I blame the criminals,” she told reporters before departing for Nepal with her husband. They plan to continue their motorcycle world tour.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Kurumahat, around 300 km from Ranchi, where the couple camped for the night. Police have arrested three suspects and are searching for four others.

“We have been in India for six months, travelling over 20,000 kilometres. This was the first incident we faced,” she said, emphasizing positive experiences throughout their journey.

She addressed fellow travellers, especially women: “I want to tell people, especially girls, to be prepared for such situations. It’s hard, but you have to keep moving forward.”

Dumka’s Superintendent of Police, Pitamber Singh Kherwar, confirmed the couple’s departure for Nepal via Bihar. The survivor’s husband commended the police for their swift action.
