Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is to take oath as the chief minister of the state for the second time on December 12.

The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which hasn’t lost a state election in Gujarat since 1995, is set to sweep the 2022 assembly polls with a record number of seats. The BJP is leading in 158 of 186 seats in the state.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led a glitzy campaign in his home state and addressed 30 rallies, is expected to reach BJP headquarters in Delhi at around 6-6:30 pm.

PM Modi is also expected to address party workers on the massive win.

The elections witnessed a turnout of 64.33 per cent, around 4 per cent less than the previous Assembly polls in 2017. Of the 4.9 crore registered voters, only 3.16 crore voted in the 2022 elections.
