Indian Domestic Air Travel Records 47% Annual Growth

New Delhi: Domestic air travel in India saw a steep growth as domestic carriers carried 12.32 crore passengers from January to December 2022 compared to 8.38 crore over the same period in the previous year, representing yearly growth of 47.05% and monthly growth of 13.69%.

According to data released by the aviation regulator DGCA on Thursday, domestic airlines carried approximately 1.27 crore passengers during December in the nation as opposed to 1.12 crore during the same month last year.

The airlines’ occupancy rates, often known as the passenger load factor, remained strong, ranging from 80 to 90 per cent. Akasa Air, a recently founded airline, with an occupancy rate of 83.8% in December.

Spicejet had the highest occupancy rate during the month of December, at 92.7%, while Indigo saw a passenger load factor of 87.5%. During the month, GoFirst had an occupancy rate of 92.6 per cent while Air India had 89.3 per cent.
