Oath-Taking Ceremony: Karnataka Assembly Welcomes Newly Elected Legislators

Bengaluru: The inaugural session of the 16th Karnataka Legislative Assembly commenced on Monday following the assumption of office by the Siddaramaiah government.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath to R.V. Deshpande, a seasoned leader and the most senior member in the house, appointing him as the Pro-tem Speaker. As the Pro-tem Speaker, Deshpande chaired the Assembly session on Monday.

Several prominent members, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, newly inducted ministers, and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, took oath as MLAs during the session.

In his address, Deshpande acknowledged the presence of both experienced and new leaders in the assembly and emphasized the importance of working together, despite political differences. He urged the legislators to strive for a Karnataka that serves as a model for the nation, fostering harmony and peace among its people.
