Congress Backs Kejriwal in Battle Against LG’s Power Grab

New Delhi: The Congress party has announced its backing for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his fight against the ordinance issued by the Central government. The ordinance grants the Lieutenant Governor (LG) the authority to transfer and appoint bureaucrats in the national capital.

The decision to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was made by the Congress party following Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s endorsement of CM Kejriwal. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar criticized the ordinance, deeming it a violation of the Constitution.

Speaking to the media after the meeting with Kejriwal, CM Nitish Kumar stated, “It is unconstitutional to strip an elected government of its powers. We stand in solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal. Our aim is to unite all opposition parties in the country.”

By extending their support to CM Kejriwal, the Congress party aims to join forces with other opposition parties in opposing the ordinance and defending the rights of elected governments.
