Kerala JD(S) Rejects Alliance With BJP, Says It’s Committed To LDF

Thiruvananthapuram: A political dispute has erupted in Kerala following a statement made by JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, who claimed that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had endorsed the party’s alliance with the BJP in Karnataka to protect their interests. However, Kerala JD(S) leader K Krishnankutty has strongly refuted Deve Gowda’s statement.

Krishnankutty expressed his opposition to the national leadership’s alignment with the BJP and emphasized the state unit’s commitment to maintaining its alliance with the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF). He clarified that he and the state party unit stand by their earlier decision to remain aligned with the Left party in Kerala. Mr. Krishnankutty is also a minister in the LDF government in Kerala.

The opposition Congress alleged that JD(S)’ revelation revealed a hidden connection between the ruling CPI(M) and the BJP in Kerala. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala pointed out Krishnankutty’s continued presence in the cabinet as further evidence of this connection.

The CPI(M) state leadership has not yet officially responded to the issue.
