Man Commits Suicide After Fiancee’s Family Cancels Wedding

Bengaluru: Just days before his wedding, a 29-year-old private company employee committed suicide close to his fiancee’s house at Hosapalya on Magadi Road after she refused to get married to him.

R Mohan Kumar, a native of Thippasandra in Magadi, has been identified as the victim. He was engaged to Kavyashree.

According to reports, Kumar’s family had even agreed to support Kavyashree in continuing her education after the wedding. The victim even gave the girl’s family Rs 10 lakh for the wedding festivities.

However, after coming across some rumour, the girl’s family asked Kumar to cancel the wedding. It is even claimed that they refused to give the money back. Kumar claims that when he and his parents visited Kavyashree’s home to resolve the problem, he was insulted and driven out of the house. In addition to the wedding being called off, he hanged himself out of frustration over everything.

His father, H Rangaswamaiah (60), lodged a complaint against Kavyashree, her mother Varalakshmamma, and Jayaramaiah, a distant relative. “The defendants are absconding. We are looking to see if the person left any kind of death note,” the police said.

The victim is said to have been warned by the accused to take his own life or else they would kill him if he attempted to disturb Kavyashree.

He departed for work at around 3.30 in the morning, and four hours later, it is learned, he went to the area of his fiancee’s house and killed himself.
