New Delhi: One of the most difficult tasks of evacuating Indians trapped in El Fashir, Sudan, was completed on Thursday, according to the Indian Embassy in Khartoum.
The Indian Embassy said in a series of tweets that it had gathered its resources and worked with various parties in conflict areas to ensure safe transport for its citizens through a challenging 1800 km route. After more than 48 hours of journey, two buses transporting 80 Indians from El Fashir in Western Sudan arrived safely at Port Sudan in East Sudan.

Up till this point, almost 3,600 Indians have been rescued from Sudan. 67 buses were organised and reached Port Sudan by the Indian Embassy thanks to its assistance. Five Indian Naval Ships and sixteen Indian Air Force aircraft, including one from the Wadi Sayyidna military airstrip, have been used to transport Indians out of Port Sudan thus far.
