Petrol, Diesel Prices May Be Slashed Soon, Hints Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi: Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri recently addressed a press conference, discussing the potential reduction of petrol and diesel prices. During the event commemorating the Modi government’s nine years in power, Puri expressed the government’s commitment to preventing any increase in oil prices since April 2022, ensuring that consumers do not face hardships. He highlighted the importance of stability in international crude costs and the performance of oil companies in the upcoming quarter as key factors in considering price reductions.

Addressing questions about potential oil price reductions, Puri refrained from making an immediate announcement but acknowledged the positive performance of state-run oil marketing companies in the previous quarter. He praised their recovery and referred to them as good corporate citizens.

Puri also took the opportunity to criticize Rahul Gandhi, highlighting the importance of credibility in politics. He pointed out that Gandhi’s past statements, particularly regarding the Rafale deal, have been proven false. Puri questioned Gandhi’s sudden concern for minorities during his foreign visits and drew attention to historical incidents such as the 1983 Nellie massacre and the 1984 Sikh killings that occurred during the Congress rule.

Puri cautioned against “freebie politics” and emphasized the dynamic nature of pricing while highlighting the government’s welfare measures implemented during its nine-year term.
