Indian Railways to Manufacture 10,000 Non-AC Coaches by 2026

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has announced plans to manufacture 10,000 non-AC coaches over the next two fiscal years, aiming to meet growing demand and improve passenger comfort.

A senior official disclosed that 4,485 non-AC coaches will be produced in 2024-25, followed by 5,444 in 2025-26.

To bolster its rolling stock, the Railways will also introduce over 5,300 general coaches. For the current fiscal year (2024-25), the production plan includes 2,605 general coaches, featuring specialized Amrit Bharat coaches to enhance passenger amenities.

Additionally, 1,470 non-AC sleeper coaches, 323 SLR (Sitting-cum-Luggage Rake) coaches, 32 high-capacity parcel vans, and 55 pantry cars will also be manufactured.

In the 2025-26 fiscal year, the Railways will further expand its fleet with 2,710 general coaches, continuing the inclusion of advanced Amrit Bharat coaches.

The production targets also comprise 1,910 non-AC sleeper coaches and 514 SLR coaches, including those from the Amrit Bharat series.
