Rs 1 Lakh Cr Worth Railway Projects for Odisha in Next 5 Yrs, Announces Railway Min Ashwini Vaishnaw
Bhubaneswar: Railway projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore will be sanctioned for Odisha in the next five years, said Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday.
While addressing a felicitation ceremony of the newly elected BJP MLA and MPS of Odisha, Vaishnaw made this declaration. Vaishnaw said a decade ago Odisha was getting only Rs 800 crore but today Odisha is benefiting from a substantial Rs 10,000 crore annually for the past three years.
The minister added that Odisha was allocated a record Rs 10,536 crore for railway infrastructure development for the 2024-25 financial year and the work is being taken up. In the last 10 years, a record 1,826km of railway lines have been laid in Odisha.
He also said that the railway will run several special trains connecting Puri during the Rath Yatra.
