Union Min Ashwini Vaishanaw Files Nomination for Odisha Rajya Sabha Polls

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, filed his nomination papers as BJP’s candidate for the Odisha Rajya Sabha elections, on Thursday.

Vaishnaw submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer of the Odisha Legislative Assembly here. Several senior BJP leaders including Odisha unit president of the party Manmohan Samal were present along with Vaishnaw when he filed his nomination papers.

The ruling BJD has already announced that it will support Vaishnaw’s candidature for the “larger interest of the State’s Railways and Telecom development”.

In 2019, Vaishnaw was also elected to the Rajya Sabha as a BJP candidate with the help of BJD.

The BJD has fielded Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia as its candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls. Now victory of the three candidates is certain.

The polling for the three vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha will be held on February 27 between 9 am and 4 pm. The counting of votes will be conducted on the very day at 5 pm.
