BJP’s Ashwini Vaishnaw, BJD’s Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia Elected to RS Uncontested

Bhubaneswar: BJP candidate Ashwini Vaishnaw and BJD candidates Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia were declared to have been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha.

The BJP candidate, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha with support from the ruling BJD.

Odisha’s ruling BJD had announced its support to the BJP candidate Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha elections for the “larger interest of the state’s Railways and Telecom development”.

Three Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha will be vacant in April following the end of six year terms of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and BJD MPs Prashant Nanda and Amar Patnaik.
