Sonia Gandhi Elected Unopposed to Rajya Sabha for 1st Time from Rajasthan

Jaipur: Former president of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, informed the Rajasthan Assembly secretary.

Sonia Gandhi was elected to the Upper House for the first time.

Along with Sonia Gandhi, BJP’s Chunnilal Garasiya and Madan Rathore were also elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

The Congress had nominated Sonia Gandhi on February 14 for the Rajya Sabha election.

With this, the 77-year-old Congress leader entered the Rajya Sabha for the first time. She has declared that she will not contest in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
