Sania Mirza Confirms Divorce After Shoaib Malik Posts Wedding Pics With Sana Javed

The personal lives of tennis star Sania Mirza and former Pakistani cricket captain Shoaib Malik have been making headlines in recent weeks, culminating in the official confirmation of their divorce today. The news comes after Malik’s surprise social media announcement of his marriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed.

In a statement, Sania’s team and family disclosed, “Sania and Shoaib have been divorced for a few months now.” Urging fans to respect her privacy during this sensitive time, the statement expressed Sania’s well wishes for Shoaib’s new journey.

The cricketer, previously married to Sania with whom he has a 5-year-old son named Izaan, shared a photograph with his new wife on social media, accompanied by the caption “And We created you in pairs.” Izaan lies with Sania.

Sania’s father, Imran Mirza, clarified that the divorce was initiated by a ‘khula,’ a Muslim woman’s right to unilaterally seek a divorce. Reports of differences between Shoaib and Sania had been circulating since 2022, as the couple was rarely seen together in recent years. Shoaib had also recently unfollowed Sania on Instagram.

Shoaib and Sania tied the knot in April 2010 in Hyderabad and lived in Dubai. Sana Javed, known for her roles in popular dramas and Pakistani films, had married singer Umair Jaiswal in 2020, but reports of their divorce emerged two months before Shoaib’s recent wedding announcement.
