Security Forces Arrest 2 ULFA (I) Terrorists from Myanmar in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh arrested two members of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA (I)] during a recent operation in the Tirap district.

The joint effort involved the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and the Arunachal Pradesh police. Acting on intelligence inputs, they successfully detained the individuals who had illegally entered the state from Myanmar with intentions of reaching Assam.

The arrested ULFA (I) insurgents have been identified as Nilutpal Asom, alias Monjit Gogoi, and Upen Asom, alias Ruhini Gogoi. Both hail from Assam and were recruited by the militant organization last year. During the operation, law enforcement recovered a .32 pistol and one 9 mm pistol from their possession.

It’s worth noting that terrorist elements with bases in Myanmar have been making attempts to infiltrate Indian territory for the purpose of conducting subversive activities. This incident adds to the string of arrests and surrenders of ULFA (I) operatives in the southern regions of Arunachal Pradesh this year. These successes have significantly hampered the banned outfit’s activities in the area.
