K’taka Elections: Vote From Home Begins For Elderly Voters & Persons With Disabilities

Mysuru: The voting process has begun for elderly voters who are 80 years of age and older as well as for voters with disabilities who chose to cast their ballots at home.

According to sources with the Election Commission, there are 2,806 eligible voters, including 2,404 seniors in the voting age group who have chosen to use the facility, and 402 voters with physical disabilities.

The Election Commission has started this initiative for the first time to make sure that no one misses the opportunity to cast their vote because they are unable to go to the polling places. KV Rajendra, the district election officer and deputy commissioner for Mysuru, reported that 135 teams of seven voters each went door-to-door between 9 am and 5 pm to assist voters in casting their ballots at their registered residences. Messages were sent to the voters’ relatives or relatives prior to the visit through booth-level officers.
