Ranveer Singh Warns Against Deepfakes After His AI Video Goes Viral

Mumbai: Popular Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh became the latest target of deepfake technology. An AI-generated video featuring Singh endorsing a political party went viral on social media.

The original video captured Singh’s visit to Varanasi, where he spoke about his spiritual experience. However, the clip was manipulated to make it appear as if Singh was promoting a political party in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Singh responded to the viral video, urging fans to be cautious of deepfakes. “Deepfake se bacho dostonnnn (Beware of deepfakes, friends),” he wrote on X.

This incident follows a similar case involving Aamir Khan, whose video promoting a political party also turned out to be a deepfake. Khan had filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime Cell after the video surfaced online.

Singh was last seen in the movie “Rocky Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” and is gearing up to play the iconic role of Don in an upcoming film directed by Farhan Akhtar. Kiara Advani will star opposite Singh in the movie, which will see him following in the footsteps of acting legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan who previously portrayed the character.
