13 Fishermen in 2 Trawlers Missing in Bay of Bengal off Paradip Coast

Paradip: Two fishing trawlers with 13 fishermen are missing in the Bay of Bengal off the Paradip coast of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district since last five days.

Odisha fisheries department has written to the Coast Guard and Marine Police to locate and rescue these fishermen missing in the sea. As per reports, a search operation has been initiated to find out the two trawlers.

According to sources, there is no contact with these fishermen. The location of these two missing fishing trawlers is yet to be traced out.

As per their schedule, these fishermen were to fish at a distance of 88 nautical miles to the north of Paradip and return back. But they did not return back to the fishing harbor at the scheduled time. Owners of the trawlers have also failed to make any contact with the fishermen in their trawlers.

Having no other way out, the owners of these trawlers approached the state fisheries department. The fisheries department requested the Coast Guard and Marine Police to locate and rescue them.
