2 Maoists Killed During Exchange of Fire in Balangir

Balangir: Two Maoists were killed during an exchange of fire between the security force and the rebels in Balangir district on Thursday. The encounter took place in Gandhamardhan forest of the district.

The identity of slain naxalites is yet to be ascertained. No security personnel was harmed in this exchange of fire with the red rebels. Details are awaited.

The influence of Maoist is on a steady decline in the state. Yet in some areas of southern and western parts of Odisha Maoists still have their bases.

The police force and government always appeal to the Maoists to leave the path of violence and return to the mainstream.
