Man Gives Triple Talaq to Wife over Phone, Case Lodged in Bihar

Patna: Although triple talaq is banned in the country, Tarannum of Bihar’s Rohtas district alleged that her husband gave her triple talaq over the phone. Seeking justice Tarannum has lodged a complaint at the women’s police station in Rohtas.
As per the law, Tarannum’s husband, if found guilty of giving triple talaq can be sentenced up to three years imprisonment.
The complainant woman alleged that her husband residing in Ranchi had married another girl without her knowledge. When she contacted her husband regarding it over the phone, he allegedly abused her and talaq three times on the phone. Her husband also asked her to leave his house in Rohtas and disconnected the phone.

Tarannum got married to her husband Shoyab from Ranchi in May 2014. Because of alleged immoral activities of her husband, she left her husband’s home in Ranchi to stay in his house in Rohtas. She also alleged that her husband had extorted dowry money from her parents. Now Tarannum has a five-year-old daughter and lives separately from her husband.

Police have accepted her complaint and the investigation is on.
