2 Women Married to Same Man Reach Agreement to Split Days with Him

New Delhi: Two wives of a man have reached a settlement to live peacefully in two separate houses by dividing three days each of a week between them. They have also given liberty to the man to spend the seventh day with the woman of his choice, said the lawyer who was the catalyst behind this compromise. This lawyer is associated with the family court in Gwalior city.

But this advocate Harish Diwan has no hiccups to declare that such an “agreement” promoting bigamy is illegal as per Hindu law.

The twice-married man in this incident is an engineer. Despite having a wife at home, he married again with a female colleague in Gurugram. At that time his first wife was in Gwalior because of the Covid-19 pandemic. His first marriage occurred in 2018 with a woman from Gwalior.

He did not return to Gwalior till 2020 to take back his legally wedded wife. His first wife reached Gurugram and found that he had married again.

Both women fought publicly over the man. The first wife approached a family court in Gwalior for justice. Despite much counseling, this man refused to leave his second wife.

Later, the trio entered into an out-of-court agreement. As per this agreement, the double-married man will spend three days a week with his first wife and the next three days with his second wife. On Sundays, he will have the freedom to live with whichever wife he wishes.

This man has provided a flat each to both his wives. His second wife has also agreed to share his salary equally with them as per their agreement.
