3 Killed 4 Wounded in Cracker Factory Blast in West Bengal

Kolkata: Three persons died and four others were seriously injured when an explosion occurred in an illegal firecracker factory in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district on Tuesday.

This illegal firecracker factory was operating in Egra. Locals rescued the victims after the blast and the injured were admitted to a local hospital.

According to police sources, this illegal cracker manufacturing unit was raided in April and action was initiated against its owner. But manufacturing of crackers without proper fire precautions continued at the unit that led to the recent mishap, police sources said.

On May 7, 2015 at least 12 persons were charred to death and four others injured in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory at Pingla in West Midnapore district of West Bengal.
