Burglar’s Boozy Nap: Thief Falls Asleep After Consuming Expensive Liquor in Lucknow

Lucknow: A burglary took place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a man entered a house with the intention of stealing. However, upon discovering expensive liquor inside the house, he couldn’t resist and ended up consuming it. Eventually, he fell asleep in one of the bedrooms.

At the time of the incident, the family who owned the house had gone to attend a wedding. Upon their return, they were surprised to find an unknown man fast asleep in their bedroom. The homeowner, Sharwanand, hailing from Chhapra in Bihar and a retired Army personnel, narrated the incident. “Upon unlocking the door after returning from the wedding, I noticed that the top part of the gate had been broken. The house was in disarray. When I entered the bedroom, I found a young man sleeping comfortably, surrounded by empty liquor bottles,” Sharwanand stated.

Rather than awakening the intruder immediately, the family chose to wait for him to wake up on his own. Once the thief finally woke up, the family members apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The detained man identified himself as Salim, residing in Sharda Nagar, during the subsequent interrogation.

Relatives of the homeowner reported the loss of valuables, including over 100 grams of gold, 2 kilograms of silver worth Rs 1.5 lakh, approximately 40 expensive sarees valued at around Rs 50,000, important documents, and Rs 6 lakh in cash.

During police questioning, the thief, Salim, admitted that he had entered the house with the assistance of an accomplice. After searching the entire house, Salim’s accomplice provided him with alcohol to distract him while the accomplice made off with the jewellery. The police are currently searching for the unidentified accomplice.
