40 Monkeys Killed by Poison In UP’s Hapur

Lucknow: Some unidentified miscreants killed around 40 monkeys in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur. Bodies of these monkeys were found in the bushes in the Garhmukteshwar area of Hapur on Sunday.

The Forest Department officials suspect that the monkeys were poisoned as watermelons and jaggery cubes were found at the spot, where the monkeys were found dead.

The police are investigating if the food items were laced with poison.

A case has been registered and the cause of death of these monkeys is being probed.

Death of these monkeys was found when some locals complained of a foul stench in the area. Bodies of the monkeys recovered from the area were sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly for autopsy.
