420 Kg Ganja Seized from Ambulance in Subarnapur

Sonepur: An ambulance transporting a huge quantity of marijuana out of Odisha to adjoining Chhattisgarh was intercepted by excise department officials at block square of Sonepur in Subarnapur district on Thursday. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

According to excise officials, the 420 packets of contraband were unearthed from the intercepted ambulance. Each packet contained 1 kg ganja. The 420-kilogram weed seized is said to be worth over Rs 40 Lakh.

Excise sleuths had chased the ambulance during patrolling and finally managed to stop it at the block square. The search of the ambulance led to the unearthing of ganja weighing 4.20 quintals. The driver, identified as Upendra Sahu of Teliband village in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh was arrested. The arrested man revealed that he was transporting the marijuana from Manumunda in Boudh district to Chhattisgarh.
