6-Yr-Old Boy Shoots & Injures Teacher in Elementary School

A 6-year-old boy shot and wounded his teacher at an elementary school in Newport in the US state of Virginia on Friday. His 30-year-old teacher was lethally injured.

The six-year-old assailant was taken into police custody. Initial investigation has hinted that it was not an accidental shooting. Luckily no other student of the elementary school was injured in this shootout. They were kept in a gymnasium for safety.

US police are investigating how this student of first-grade could bring a shotgun to school, with which he shot the teacher.

Similar shootings in schools are happening in America at regular intervals. In May last year, 19 children and two teachers were killed by a teenage gunman in Uvalde, Texas. Gun culture is proving fatal for many in the US. As per reports, around 44,000 gun-related deaths occurred in America last year.
