7 Hens Under Police Custody in Odisha’s Two Jails!

Bhubaneswar: At least seven roosters are under police custody in Jails in Odisha’s Malkangiri and Balasore districts.

They were taken into custody by police from spots of illegal cock fighting. Cock fighting is rampant in the rural areas of the State.

In order to put a check on this, the Malkangiri model police station conducted raids at Pedabeda village under Gangala Panchayat. The police arrested two persons and seized three roosters, and knives used in cock-fighting.

The accused were identified as Gangadhar Madkami and Brajakishore Bisoi. They were forwarded to the court on Wednesday. Police are yet to give any statement about this issue.

On the other side, four roosters are under the custody of police in Balasore.

On December 25, a team from Simulia police station conducted raids at Manjuripur village under Muruna panchayat of Balasore, where they nabbed four persons and seized as many roosters. Police let the accused persons go with serving notices but kept the birds.

It is discussed by locals that the police have kept the roosters to eat in their new year celebration.
