Accident Kills Newly-Wed Couple 72 Hours after Marriage

Berhampur: A road accident claimed the lives of a newly-wed couple only three days after their marriage in the Golanthara police station area on the outskirts of Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district. The deceased were identified as CH Pranabika of Berhampur and G Benu of Ichhapur in Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, this young couple got married on February 10 in a temple in the Ichhapur area of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Although they had dreamt of a long blissful marital life ahead, fate had the harsh reality of life stored from them.

According to tradition after her visit to the in-laws’ house, Benu and Pranabika were on their way to the bride’s home in Berhampur on a bike on Monday evening when they met with an accident near the Golanthara police station in the evening. A speeding truck on the NH16 hit them.

The couple was seriously injured. They were immediately rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. But both of them succumbed to their injuries. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
